who donated his prize for winning the D.C. Chapter of the Society of
Professional Journalists'

We are
honored to name the fund The Michael Stoops Empowerment Stipend Fund . Mr. Stoops was instrumental in
affecting policy change through advocacy for the homeless community in
the U.S., in founding our organization, and in sustaining the broader
street paper movement
